Friday Food & Wonky Week of Running

Still trying to get my workout mojo back. Not much to report on that.

Emily and I both had a low grade fever all week, felt lethargic, and were basically all-around cranky. My muscles and joints also hurt something fierce, so the kiddo's probably did as well. We both have doctor's appointments scheduled for Monday, but I'm assuming it's just some low-grade virus that needs to work it's way out of our system.

I also haven't done any food posts lately because I basically eat the same things every.single.day. Really, I could just recycle the same pictures over and over, but I won't bore you like that.

My new thing in the morning has been Kroger brand's Carb Master yogurt. I've always walked right by it in the store, but was surprised by the nutrition label when I finally picked it up.

It has 12 grams of protein, 35% of your recommended daily calcium, and only 80 calories per 6oz. cup. That's better than greek yogurt. At $.35 a cup, my taste buds and wallet are loving it!



Now that the weather's warming up I've traded my lunchtime soups for salads. This is my nifty salad container. I got it at TJ Maxx for $5 last year.



Notice the field greens and spinach? I'm try branching out from my good ole iceberg.

Toppings: shrimp, a sprinkling of bacon bits, and Trader Joe's Asian Sesame Dressing



Dinner was homemade pizza. Trade Joe's whole wheat pizza dough layered with organic marinara, low-fat mozzerella, turkey pepperoni, and baby spinach.

Cooking it on a pizza stone dusted with cornmeal takes it to the next level of yumminess.



M couldn't be fooled into whole wheat crust. He could deal with the spinach and turkey-pepperoni (the low-fat cheese was my little secret), but how dare I defile his beloved pizza like that? I made a stromboli using the same toppings, but regular white pizza dough to keep him happy.

  3. I used TJ's whole wheat pizza dough a couple weeks ago too and it looks like yours came out better than mine (YUM). I had trouble getting it to cook all the way through at the recommended temp/time. It's good stuff anyway though! Next time I'll crank the oven up hotter I think!
