The weather was really nice here today, so I took Emily to an outdoor mall so we could get some fresh air, and of course shop. I love having a little girl. Little E's already a great shopping companion. She sat in her stroller the entire shopping trip without making a peep. She dozed off briefly, but was alert and looking around most of the time.
Of course pushing a baby stroller through a store attracts people like a magnet. It drove me nuts that people kept touching her cheeks and grabbing her little hands. I don't know you, I don't know where you've been, and I don't want you touching my baby, thankyouverymuch! The momma-bear in me came out, and I ended up covering her stroller with the bug netting I had decided to pack last minute on my way out the door. It came in handy. Once I put up the protective force field, we were able to navigate through stores much easier.
I picked up a few skirts, t-shirts, and a sun dress. It was a pretty productive shopping trip, and for the first time in almost a year, I actually felt pretty good looking in the mirror. I drove home excited about my purchases, not bummed out and discouraged. I do need to buy a new bathing suit for our trip next weekend, but I've still got a few days to jump that hurdle. For now I'll enjoy my shopping high from today.
Time to give Emily a thorough bathing before she falls asleep for the night. Next time strangers try and paw at my baby they may just get a shot of Purell in the eye.
I'm a just another Jersey girl adjusting to life in the south. In addition to being a mother-runner, I work full time outside the home, and enjoy the perks (and challenges) of being married to a commercial airline pilot.
I try my best to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle, and to set a good example for my 3 children. You can usually find me training, and even racing, around Atlanta while pushing them in a jogging stroller.
